The record
The draw is the tenor battle: Gene Ammons against Sonny Stitt, three takes of 'Blues Up And Down' laid side by side, and the track list itself announcing 'Gene Ammons Battles Sonny Stitt' in case anyone missed the point. Art Farmer and Bill Massey on trumpets, Lou Donaldson on alto, four drummers credited across the compilation. Prestige LP 7050, remastered by Rudy Van Gelder.

Pressings
The earliest pressing on file here is the 1956 Prestige LP 7050 in mono -- the record is assembled from earlier sessions, so 1956 is the first LP rather than the first appearance of the music. A 1958 Prestige reissue of the same number carries an RVG stamp, which is how you tell them apart. After that it is Japan's 1979 SMJ-6610(M) and the 1982 Original Jazz Classics OJC-014, the copy to buy if you just want to hear it.
