A trumpeter barely into his mid-twenties leads a crack sextet through Impulse!'s house sound, with Tommy Flanagan's crisp comping and the unexpected presence of Sun Ra alum John Gilmore adding bite. Confident, hard-bop postbop from a horn player already sounding fully formed.
