The record
Burrell steps out as leader for the first time, his phrasing already assured against Flanagan's crisp piano while Candido works congas into the corners. Chambers and Clarke hold it steady as a soulful, fully formed voice announces itself.

Pressings
The earliest on file is the 1956 Blue Note mono, BLP 1523, with a deep groove, RVG stamp, Plastylite ear and flat edge -- the copy collectors chase. A 1966 repress of the same number keeps the RVG stamp but loses the rest, and stereo does not appear until the 1967 BST 81523. Japan's 1977 GXK 8011(M) and the 1994 mono BN 1523 are the cleaner cheap routes.
