The record
A tightly voiced sextet date marking Hope's return to New York after years away, his angular themes and hard-swinging arrangements framed by a rhythm section built around Percy Heath and Philly Joe Jones. Frank Foster and Jimmy Heath's twinned tenors give the horn writing real heft alongside Blue Mitchell's bright, blues-rooted trumpet.
