The record
Two side-long suites splice melodic fragments into continuous form, Cherry's cornet threading through Barbieri's fierce, vocal tenor and Grimes' shifting bass lines while Blackwell keeps the pulse loose and swinging.

Pressings
The earliest pressing on file here is the 1966 US stereo, BST 84226, carrying a Plastylite ear. The 1966 mono, BLP 4226, is the other original-era copy. By 1967 the same two numbers turn up as NY/Liberty transition and no-ear repressings, so read the label and the deadwax rather than the catalog number. Later Blue Note reissues are plentiful, and the 2025 gatefold 180g edition, 602458270082, is the current in-print copy.
