The record
Schifrin's suite writing drops a French horn-heavy orchestra behind the working quintet, Candido's congas thickening the bottom end. Wright's reeds and flute cut a clean line through the density, small-group nerve meeting big-band scale.

Our data flags no earliest pressing for this title, but the oldest listing we hold is the 1960 US Verve mono, V-8394, including a trumpeter-label variant; the stereo is V6-8394. The UK got His Master's Voice issues in 1961, CLP 1484 in mono and CSD 1392 in stereo with a laminated sleeve, and France a Barclay-Verve mono, 3665. Japan reissued it as VLS 1030 in 1962 and again as 23MJ 3395 in 1984.
