The record
Cut in the middle of Pepper's mid-'50s hot streak with the West Coast rhythm section he trusted most -- Freeman, Vinnegar, and Manne -- plus Jack Sheldon's trumpet adding extra brass bite. Lean, blues-soaked cool jazz that shows why Pepper's alto tone became the West Coast standard.
