The record
A pianist-composer at his most daring, flanked by a front line that pairs Dolphy's restless multi-instrumental voice with Henderson and Dorham's harder-swinging instincts, held together by teenage drummer Williams. The result balances abstraction and blues feeling in equal measure, one of Blue Note's boldest mid-'60s statements.
