The record

Hill turns toward blues-rooted, earthier ground here, with Carter and Waits laying down firm footing beneath Ervin's gritty tenor and Morgan's brass. The comping still bends and twists, but the set stays grounded throughout.

Pressings

Two 1968 US stereo pressings of BST 84303 are on file, one an All Disc pressing and one carrying an RVG stamp; a German copy of the same number appeared that year, with BST 84 303 K following in 1969. After a 1975 US reissue the title sat until 2025, when Blue Note put out a 180g gatefold, 602455187697. Only a handful of original-era copies are listed, so expect to hunt.
