The record
Pat Martino's guitar and Bob Cranshaw's Fender bass push this Muse date into heavier, funkier terrain than Jackson's earlier Prestige work, with Mickey Tucker's keyboards and Sonny Morgan's percussion filling out a thicker 70s sound. The tenor still barks with plenty of grit.
