Freddie Hubbard's horn cuts sharp against Eddie Higgins' Chicago-bred piano on this date, later reissued through Affinity. Looser and more hard-swinging than the Blue Note records that would soon follow.

This is a Vee Jay record. The earliest on file is the 1962 US mono, LP3029, with the stereo SR3029 issued alongside it that year on deep-groove labels. A 1962 Japanese blue-label stereo, SMJ-7056, is the notable import. Japan kept reissuing it into 1987 as 22YB-2008. Modern copies are plentiful -- Jazz Images 37134 from 2019 is the tidiest of them.
