The record
A trim, telepathic trio date led from the drum chair -- Haynes' snap and cymbal wash trading ideas with Wyands' unshowy, blues-rooted lines and De Haas holding the center. Recorded in 1960, it's a lean showcase for a drummer already prized as a first-call sideman finally steering the date himself.
