Half the titles here are street corners -- '47th And Calumet,' '63rd And Cottage Grove,' 'La Salle St After Hours' -- and John Wright plays them as blues with the churchiness left in, right through to 'Amen Corner.' Wendell Roberts and Walter McCants fill out the trio. LeRoi Jones wrote the liner notes, which is worth something on its own. Prestige PRLP 7190, 1960.
