The record
Chuck Israels takes the bass chair for the first time since LaFaro, and the mood shifts toward hush rather than fireworks -- 'Polka Dots and Moonbeams' unfolds like a long exhale. Quieter and more inward than the Vanguard dates, a trio easing into new footing.

Pressings
Mono and stereo both landed in 1962: mono RLP 428, including MGM-pressed copies with deep-groove labels, and stereo RLP 9428, which is the earliest row we hold. Riverside reissued both in 1966. OJC-434 has carried the title since 1990, in 180 and 200 gram versions. For sound, Analogue Productions' 45 RPM AJAZ 9428 and the Kevin Gray-remastered 45 RPM RLP 9428 on Riverside are the two serious cuts.
