The record
Dense, brass-shadowed writing from Dixon's sole mid-'60s outing as orchestrator, pairing his spectral trumpet with a double-bass front line of Garrison and Workman and unusual low-register textures from bass clarinet, cello, and english horn. A one-off statement of composed avant-garde ambition, far from the freer squalls of his AACM-adjacent peers.
