The record
A vibraphonist-arranger's novel gambit -- recasting themes from Russian composers as postbop vehicles for a stacked cast including Dolphy, Giuffre, and Pepper Adams. Cold War kitsch premise aside, the blowing is dead serious, a snapshot of early-60s New York session talent at full strength.
