The record
A greasy, groove-heavy session cut for Prestige as the label leaned hard into soul-jazz's crossover appeal, with Bill Mason's organ and twin guitars from Ponder and Reed thickening the pocket beneath Bryant's raw-toned tenor. Idris Muhammad and conguero Buddy Caldwell keep the rhythm deep in the pocket -- funk-club jazz built for dancing, not sitting still.
