The record
A sequel of sorts to Nelson's Blues and the Abstract Truth, trading that date's all-star sheen for a denser, brassier band anchored by Pepper Adams' baritone and Ben Webster's husky tenor. Nelson's writing stays sharp and blues-soaked, giving Phil Woods and Thad Jones plenty of room to dig in.
