The record
Niehaus leads a front line packed with arrangers -- Giuffre on baritone, Holman on tenor, Enevoldsen's trombone -- so the charts read like a conversation between writers as much as players. Pete Jolly's piano and Shelly Manne's drums keep the second octet volume from turning academic.
