The record

A cool-toned session steeped in the Tristano lineage, with Bauer and Mosca shading Konitz's alto in the same spare, contrapuntal language that marked his Prestige and Verve dates of the era. Two bassists split duties across the date, lending the rhythm section a subtly shifting weight beneath Konitz's characteristically airy, behind-the-beat phrasing.

Session personnel

  • Lee Konitz — alto saxophone
  • Arnold Fishkin — bass
  • Peter Ind — bass
  • Dick Scott — drums
