The record
Dorham reworks the Kern standards with a quintet built for hard bop clarity -- Jimmy Heath's tenor and Kenny Drew's piano trading the melodic weight while Garrison and Taylor keep things propulsive underneath. A lesser-discussed corner of Dorham's early-60s run, but the arranging chops that made him a sought-after sideman are all over this session.
