The record

John Coltrane turning up as a sideman on a guitarist's record is the draw, but stay for how differently the two phrase -- Kenny Burrell rounded and swinging, Coltrane pressing at the bar lines through Freight Trane and Big Paul. Tommy Flanagan, Paul Chambers and Jimmy Cobb are the rhythm section, which is nearly reason enough on its own. New Jazz NJ 8276, mono.
