Sonny Clark's percussive chords drive this October '57 quartet outing, one of several dates Griffin knocked out that year at a startling clip. Fast tempos dominate, though a handful of gospel-tinged blues give the record its churchy title.

The earliest copy we list is the 1958 US mono, Blue Note BLP 1580, though our data carries no groove or ear detail for it either way. Blue Note repressed the mono in 1972 and Japan issued GXK 8092 (M) in 1978. For play copies, look at the 180 gram B1-89383 from 1994 and the 200 gram mono BLP 1580 of 2009; Music Matters cut a 45 RPM stereo gatefold, MMBST-1580, in 2011.
