The record
Drew, Vinding, and Thigpen -- the Copenhagen rhythm section Griffin leaned on through the '70s -- lock in behind a tone that had lost none of its weight since the Blue Note years. Inner City's release finds him relaxed and blues-soaked, well past the fire of his Chicago beginnings but still commanding.
