A rare leader date for an obscure alto voice, cut for Contemporary with a West Coast lineup sharp enough to include a young Gary Peacock and trumpeter Joe Gordon pushing hard bop toward freer terrain. Woods never made another record as leader, leaving this one session as his sole, curious statement.
