The record
Hutcherson's vibes replace piano entirely, opening space for Moncur's oblique harmonies while a teenage Tony Williams pushes the date forward. McLean's alto reaches further from bebop's grid than ever, blues still gripping underneath.

Pressings
The earliest copies on file are 1964 Blue Notes: a stereo listed simply as 84137 with RVG stamp, Plastylite ear and laminated sleeve, alongside a deep-groove mono BLP 4137 carrying the same RVG stamp and lamination. The 1966 repressings of both still show the ear, which is worth knowing before you pay a premium for the earlier label. After that it is reissues -- BST 84137 into 1975, Japan's GXK 8083 in 1978, French copies in 1983. Music Matters cut MMBST-84137 at 45 RPM in 2012.
