Johnson leads a brass-heavy ensemble in December 1964, stacking bass trombones and french horn against reed players Budd Johnson and Harvey Estrin for section weight over blowing heat. Cranshaw and Tate anchor a date built on orchestration as much as solos.

Pressings

Everything original-era on file is 1965. The earliest US pressing we list is the RCA Victor mono LPM-3350; stereo LSP-3350 shows up from Germany, Canada and the UK, and Britain also had its own RD 7721 mono and SF 7721 stereo. Japan issued SHP-5474. Later there is a 1975 Japanese RGP1098 and a 1982 French reissue, PL 43530. No audiophile cut is listed, so country and mix are the real choices.
