The record
Cut over two January days in 1958, this Jazz Workshop session shows Perkins, Vinnegar, and Butler locking into a tight groove while Ericson's trumpet sharpens the frontline. Harold Land's tenor already carries the harmonic weight he'd soon bring to the Brown-Roach band.
Session personnel
- Leroy Vinnegar — bass
- Frank Butler — drums
- Carl Perkins — piano
- Harold Land — tenor saxophone
- Rolf Ericson — trumpet
