Three reeds from one man: Hal McKusick is credited on alto, tenor and clarinet across these six tracks, with Billy Byers's trombone alongside him. Eddie Costa, Paul Chambers and Charlie Persip make a rhythm section with real snap, and the program has range -- 'The Settlers And The Indians' on one hand, 'Blues Half-Smiling' on the other. Rudy Van Gelder engineered; Prestige issued it in 1958.
