The record
A sprawling 1970 date stacking three bassists and two drummers behind Terumasa Hino's horn, catching the young New York loft scene -- Liebman, Grossman, Holland, Dara -- mid-ferment just before fusion pulled them elsewhere. Free-leaning and dense, it's a rare document of Japanese and American avant-jazz players crossing paths at full tilt.
