The record
A West Coast big band, arranged for a nimble eleven pieces, gives Fitzgerald a light, swinging cushion rather than a wall of brass. Lou Levy's piano and the Shank-Holman reed section keep things airy and conversational -- a lesser-known corner of her Verve run worth digging for.

The earliest copy we list is the 1958 US mono, Verve MG V-4021, an Indianapolis pressing with a deep groove; a UK His Master's Voice mono, CLP 1267, dates to the same year. The stereo appears under three numbers -- MG VS-64021 in 1958, MG VS-6019 in 1960 and V6-4021 in 1961, the last two listed with deep grooves. Original Recordings Group cut a numbered 45 RPM edition, ORG 053, in 2010.
