The record

Stepping away from his usual house-arranger chair, Pearson fronts a full big band, letting Adams and Foster's horns carry charts as crisp as anything he wrote for Blakey or Byrd. The results swing hard while keeping Blue Note's blues-soaked hard-bop core intact.
