A rare early sighting of Bill Evans two years before his trio breakthrough, comping behind a vibraphonist rather than leading -- his touch already unmistakable amid Pike's crisp mallets and the Perkins-Lewis pulse. A West Coast-cool date cut for Epic, worth hearing for the pianist as much as the leader.
