The record
The bossa boom hits the Hawk's tenor here, his big, unhurried tone gliding over guitars and hand percussion rather than fighting them. A veteran of the tenor's earliest jazz vocabulary sounding utterly at home in 1962's new Brazilian currents, cut for Bob Thiele's Impulse! label.
