The record
Verve set Baker singing and blowing flugelhorn through the Billie Holiday songbook, reed-heavy charts wrapped around Hank Jones and Richard Davis's steady rhythm work. His worn, unhurried voice treats her tunes with the same fragility he gave his own horn lines.
