The record
A rare pairing of two distinct lyrical sensibilities, with the MJQ's rhythm section lending a chamber-like poise beneath Evans' introspective voicings and the alto's warm, singing tone. Quietly conversational rather than blowing-session hot -- a study in restraint from two Riverside stalwarts at ease with each other.

The earliest on file is a 1962 US Riverside mono RLP 433. The stereo appears the same year under two numbers, RS 9433 and RLP 9433, both listed with a deep groove. A 1963 Japanese RLP-433 and a 1965 UK mono are the early imports. Modern routes are the 1984 OJC-105, the 2003 Analogue Productions 45 RPM AJAZ 9433, and a 2024 Riverside 180 gram, CR00716.
