Recorded for Impulse! in the summer of '71, this trio date finds Jamal easing into Fender Rhodes textures alongside longtime bassist Jamil Nasser and drummer Frank Gant, stretching the spacious, vamp-driven approach he'd honed through the '60s. A quietly exploratory session that trades some of his trademark hush for electric shading without losing that signature sense of space.
