The record
A West Coast tenor summit caught live, with Hawes' percussive attack and Farmer's lyric horn pushing Gray through hard-swinging changes just a couple years before his untimely death. Xanadu's early-70s reissue rescued a set that shows the era's cool-jazz tag never told the whole story.
