The record
Kenny Clarke is the drummer on these sides, and the bebop in him keeps the group's careful counterpoint from turning polite. Milt Jackson's vibes and John Lewis's piano hand the lead back and forth through La Ronde Suite and The Queen's Fancy, with Percy Heath holding the middle. Ira Gitler supplied the liner notes. Prestige PRLP 7057, mono.

The earliest copy on file is not American: a 1956 Argentine Prestige PR7057 in mono. The earliest US pressing listed is the 1958 PRLP 7057, mono with deep groove, and even that is marked a repress -- so we hold no genuine original-era US copy for this title. Everything after is reissue: LP 7057 in 1963 and 1964, OJC-057 from 1983 onward, and a 2018 Jazz Images gatefold, 37100.
