The record
A follow-up to Time Out, pushing further into odd meters and asymmetrical phrasing with Desmond's alto gliding cool and unhurried above the shifting pulse. Brubeck's quartet at its most exploratory, chart success be damned -- this is jazz doing math and swinging anyway.

Pressings
Columbia pressed this at four plants in 1961. The stereo CS 8490 turns up as Pitman, Terre Haute, Hollywood and Bridgeport copies, the last with a deep groove, and the mono CL 1690 as Pitman, Hollywood and Terre Haute. None of them outranks the others in what we hold. UK buyers got Fontana instead, mono TFL 5161 and stereo STFL 578, both 1961. A 1963 Japanese Columbia YS-220 is the laminated-sleeve outlier.
