The record

This Jazz Workshop club set helped push the sound Bobby Timmons named on 'This Here,' gospel fervor turned into something you could dance to. Nat's cornet answers his brother's alto over a rhythm section swinging hard and testifying harder.

Session personnel

  • Cannonball Adderley — alto saxophone
  • Sam Jones — bass
  • Nat Adderley — cornet
  • Louis Hayes — drums
  • Bobby Timmons — piano

Pressings

The earliest copy on file is the 1959 mono RLP 12-311, an Abbey pressing. Stereo follows in 1960 as RLP 1157, alongside RLP 311 monos in the US and the Netherlands -- though 1960 also carries RLP 12-311, so the catalog number alone will not date a copy. A 1963 mono reissue is listed as no deep groove. Analogue Productions cut AJAZ 1157 at 45 RPM in 2005 for the modern option.
