The record
Eddie Sauter's string charts weren't background but full compositions, leaving Getz to improvise freely against them rather than a fixed melody. The result stands apart from his bossa nova fame -- a tenor player at his most exposed, tone unguarded against the strings.

The earliest copy on file is the 1961 US Verve stereo V6-8412 in gatefold, with an MGM-pressed variant the same year; mono V-8412 turns up on a 1961 Canadian pressing and a 1962 US gatefold. Britain got His Master's Voice instead -- mono CLP 1577 and stereo CSD 1448, both 1962. Verve's 1978 VE-1-2528 carries a new gatefold cover, and the current reissue is the 2025 gatefold, 00602478261718.
