The record
A pianoless trio session that finds the tenor stretching out over just bass and drums, with Brown and Manne giving him wide-open space to roam. The cactus-and-holster cover art is a wink at the West Coast date, but the playing -- loose, witty, unhurried -- is pure Rollins logic.

Pressings
The earliest on file is the 1957 Contemporary C 3530 in mono. Stereo came a year later, not on Contemporary but on Stereo Records as S7017, listed with deep-groove black labels -- that is the pressing stereo buyers chase. Contemporary's own S 7530 is a 1963 reissue, in green- and black-label deep-groove forms. OJC-337 has held the title since 1988. Analogue Productions is the audiophile line here: APJ 008 in 1992, the 45 RPM AJAZ 7530 in 2003, and a 2025 UHQR cut of S7017.
