The record
Guitar-piano-bass trio jazz in the mainstream swing-to-bop lineage Sir Charles Thompson helped bridge, cut for Vanguard during John Hammond's early-'50s jazz sessions. Best's guitar takes the horn-like lead role, letting Thompson's blues-rooted, economical touch and Bell's walking lines set an easy, after-hours mood.
