The record
A quieter corner of his Verve years, this quartet date leans on Lonnie Liston Smith's spare piano and the Boykins-Tate rhythm section to frame ballad-hued reflection instead of the reed fireworks. Recorded in 1967, it shows his tender, exploratory side.

The earliest we list is the 1967 US mono, Verve V-8709, in a gatefold; the stereo of the same year is V6-8709, also gatefold, with one copy noted as an MGM plant pressing. The UK issued both in 1968, mono VLP 9193 and stereo SVLP 9193. Verve put the stereo back out worldwide in 2025 on 180 gram under the same V6-8709 number, which is the clean way in.
