A stacked drum chair -- Jo Jones, Kenny Clarke, and Osie Johnson all pass through -- plus Candido's congas give this Epic date a percussive depth that frames Bryant's blues-rooted, gospel-tinged piano. Early evidence of the swinging, soulful touch that would soon make him a first-call trio pianist.
