A '62 trio date that catches Bley mid-transition, loosening bar lines and pulling harmony toward the abstraction he'd soon bring to his ESP and Bley/Giuffre work. Swallow and La Roca stay elastic underneath him, trading strict time for a rubato pulse that breathes with the pianist's phrasing.
