The record
A twenty-two-year-old guitarist's debut, cut for Prestige with organist Trudy Pitts anchoring the groove and a percussion-heavy front line pushing the soul-jazz boil. Martino's lines already show the fluency that would define his sound, tearing through blues changes with a fire that belies his age.

Pressings
The earliest copy on file here is the 1967 US Prestige PR 7513 in stereo. A later Prestige pressing from 1972 carries the same PR 7513 number and an RVG stamp, so check the year before paying original money for the catalog number alone. Original Jazz Classics picked the title up as OJC-195 in 1985, and that number was still being run on 180 gram in 2014 -- the honest listening copy.
