OSCAR PETERSON PLAYS HARRY WARREN (1-12" LP) Clef Records MGC-648 OSCAR PETERSON PLAYS HAROLD ARLEN (1-12" LP) Clef Records MGC-649 OSCAR PETERSON PLAYS JIMMY McHUGH (1-12" LP) Clef Records MGC-650 The ambling fingers of Oscar Peterson glide with a seeming abandon over the keyboard as the big man adds albums numbers 8, 9, and 10 to his series of popular composers. Latest to be included are the familiar favorites of Harry Warren, Harold Arlen and Jimmy McHugh. Peterson is equally at home with the slow, lazy pieces as well as the racing numbers and the resulting albums will offer many delightful hours to both Peterson fans as well as just plain music fans. Idea has merit as it gathers to the counter the collector, who must have all of a series, in this case ten. It offers fans of the pianist a chance to enlarge their catalogues. And on a smaller scale, it offers fans of a particular composer a chance to get a dozen or so tunes on one wax. The cover drawing, except for color, is the same as that used on the previous seven albums. It will also make quite a window display for some enterprising retail outlet. Assisting in top flight fashion are Herb Ellis on the guitar and Ray Brown on bass.
