The record

Three horns across the front here -- Miles Davis, J.J. Johnson's trombone, Jackie McLean's alto -- with Gil Coggins at the piano and Oscar Pettiford and Kenny Clarke moving lightly underneath. Blue Note put it out in 1953 as a ten-inch, BLP 5013, six tunes deep: 'Dear Old Stockholm' opens, 'How Deep Is The Ocean' closes, and 'Chance It' and 'Donna' supply the bebop.

Pressings

The earliest pressing on file here is the 1953 US Blue Note BLP 5013, a 10-inch -- everything original-era on this title is 10-inch. France got Vogue L.D. 122 the same year, repressed in 1954. Later: Blue Note's LP 5013 in 2002 and 2014, Japan's limited TOJJ-5013 in 1999, and a Classic Records 33/45 companion package, BLP-5013-33 / 45 COMP. PKG., in 2002.
